Remembrance Sunday

Not my favourite day of the year; never quite sure what to do with it.

So I reflect on gratitude; for being where and when I am, for having so much that I take for granted, for opportunties I do not even recognise as such, for freedoms that are fragile and yet deep rooted.

For people – so many people, who can do what I can’t, from dying in war through to leading remembering, from talking to those who are on the margins to facing The Other without fear and welcoming, right through to loving and trusting and living well.

Deo gratias.

And I pray.

For those who live now with the results of then.

For those who are caught in violence now – both suffering and inflicting, and so often both.

For those facing impossible decisions, where there is no right.

And that I need not face the time of trial.

Kyrie eleis0n.
